The
goals of the Longman
Cornerstone (grades K-5) and Longman
Keystone (grades 6-12) programs are to accelerate academic
achievement through explicit instruction in reading, listening,
speaking, and writing, develop transferable cross-curricular academic
skills through connected learning opportunities, and provide both
teachers and students with an easy-to-use roadmap to academic success.
The Longman
Cornerstone and Longman
Keystone assessments are designed to reach these goals.
Students' progress is measured through a combination of both
qualitative and quantitative measures on a daily, weekly, and unit
basis. Daily progress is monitored through practice activities embedded
in every lesson. Students practice their productive (speaking and
writing) and receptive (listening and reading) skills with
instructional support from the teacher and practice opportunities in
the program. Weekly progress is monitored through reading assessments,
writing tasks, comprehension, phonics, word analysis, fluency, grammar,
and writing tasks. Unit progress is monitored through cumulative
assessments that measure the skills taught within the unit. Click to
