Marketing Manager
- "At
the beginning
of the year, these kids literally could not speak a word of
English, [teacher Gissella Dillow] said. "Halfway through
January,
they were already one or two levels above where I was teaching them."
-
"There is often an assumption that all ELL students learn the same, and
that's not the case," [Roaring Fork District Superintendent Judy] Haptonstall said. "Cornerstone is very purposeful in assessing
where a student is in the learning process and personalizing it for
that student."

With stimulus money becoming
available for school districts across the
country, educators are more conscious about spending funds and need
assurance that they are choosing quality programs. Longman
Cornerstone, for grades K-5, is a quality program making a
difference in the academic performance of English language learners.
The Glenwood Springs Elementary School, part of the Roaring Fork School
District in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, began piloting the Cornerstone
program in August 2009 with their K-5 English language learners. Based
on the feedback from this pilot, the Roaring Fork School District has
decided to adopt Cornerstone
as their comprehensive plan for K-5 English language learners.
