Grammar
in Context The new grammar is always introduced in a natural context. This reading
could be a newspaper article, a restaurant review, an interview, a
classified ad, or any format that lends itself to the grammar naturally.
All readings are high-interest, modern, and fun for students of all ages.
|
 |
Grammar
Presentation The clear, accessible grammar charts present the grammar forms in a simple format.
The grammar notes give explanations of the grammar with advice and warnings, followed
by examples of the grammar in context. Form, meaning, and use at their simplest and cleanest!

 |
Focused
Practice In a controlled, safe setting, students are encouraged to be detectives
and Discover the Grammar for themselves. This leads to a variety of
focused exercises, including increased editing work and error analysis,
that encourages students to practice the new grammar.

 |
 |
Communication
Practice Now students can put what they’ve learned into practice.
They understand that learning the structure beneath the language leads to increased communication,
accuracy, and fluency in all four skills.
The Communication Practice step gives students the opportunity to use the grammar through games,
info gaps, surveys, listenings, writing, and so much more.

 |
Review or SelfTest At the end of every part in Focus on Grammar, there is a review test that can also be used as a self test.
These exercises test the form and use of the grammar and include TOEFL®-type questions to prepare students
for the future.

From
Grammar to Writing
The popular From Grammar to Writing section has now been expanded to all levels, from Basic
to Advanced. At the end of each part, this section explains the mechanics and process of writing and
includes writing development exercises from sentence through to essay.
|
 |
Review or SelfTest Answer Key This answer key allows students to check their answers as soon as they have completed the test.
When a student’s answers are incorrect, the student should go back to the appropriate grammar
presentation and review the grammar structure. Cross-references to units are provided for easy review.
