Shopping
Goals: to identify places; to describe locations
|
- Prepare a poster with pictures and names of various businesses
listed on it.
For example:
Throgg's Hardware Store, Dale's Department Store,
Dooley's Drugs, Pietro's Pizza
- Assign teams of students specific rooms in the house and have them
write on 3" x 5" cards the names of five items found
in that room.
- Collect the cards and place them in a large container. Ask students
to take turns picking a card from the container, reading the name of
the object, and pointing to and saying the name of a store where they
can buy one.
For example:
"A wooden spoon. I can buy one in Dale's Department Store."
- Extend the activity by having students describe how to get to the
business location. Each correct answer is worth one point. The team
with the most points wins.
