About the Authors
Scott Foresman ESL represents a new approach to teaching ESL—using content-based

Three different levels of Newcomer Books provide survival language instruction
to ESL students with little or no experience with English.

Grades 1-3
Each of these outstanding four-color Big Books, for grades 1-3 feature the
thematic unit openers of each of the twelve chapters in the Scott Foresman
ESL Student Books.
- 12 large-format, full-color pages (15˝ x 20˝) introduce
new topics to students. Students are encouraged to share their new vocabulary
and their own experiences with their classmates.

Development Activity Book with Standardized Test Practice
Discover a wide range of activities that support and expand language skills,

96 cards provide conversation starters at three levels: Beginning, Intermediate,

Audiocassettes
Eight audiocassettes for each grade level provide readings of authentic
literature, songs, chants, and poems, plus listening assessment for every

Picture Cards

to practice, review, and expand vocabulary. The accompanying Teacher’s Guide

Writer’s Notebook Software
This personal journal software for Grades 6–8 offers writing prompts based
on the theme and authentic literature from each chapter. A built-in word
processor lets students share their writing as they develop skills and build
