Please email this feedback form, or send your comments, to ESL_Marketing@pearsoned.com. The TOEFL® iBT test is an exciting step forward in English language testing which demands a new kind of test preparation. The integrated nature of the TOEFL® iBT reflects the real-life challenges students face. As a result of these developments, our TOEFL students need whole language skills to succeed on the test and in academic settings beyond the test. In other words, more than ever before, TOEFL students need to learn how to speak, listen, read and write in English! One way to make the classroom as interactive and communicative as it can be is to incorporate lively ESL-inspired activities that promote authentic language learning. The activities we offer you here are fun, and they target specific key skills that make the most of our students different learning styles. Not only are they engaging, but in our experience, they also lead to better test performance. These activities are intended as a supplement to a solid test preparation textbook, such as the Longman Preparation Course for the TOEFL® Test: iBT, Second Edition, by Deborah Phillips. The activities can be used to introduce, practice, reinforce, and/or review key TOEFL skills. In this new site, we present ten of our most popular activities. Many are ideal for practice at any point in a unit (check out Back Talk and To the Races), while others provide dynamic review for skills and practice tests (try Ph.D. Bingo and Outline-Up). You’ll find activities that target key skills such as:
Use or adapt these activities for a super TOEFL experience, and you may find as we have that students will have one of those long-awaited "Aha!" moments when everything comes together. Our colleagues love these activities and keep asking for more. Here they are! We welcome your feedback and comments. (Please take a minute to fill out the Teacher Feedback form and email it to us at ESL_Marketing@pearsoned.com.) Enjoy! |
