Frequently Asked Questions

Student Support

My access code is not working. What should I do?

I forgot my login name or password. How can I get this information sent to me?

The Course ID my instructor gave me is not working. What should I do?

The whole page does not fit on my screen. Some of the material is cut off. What should I do?

My access code is not working. What should I do?

  • Access codes are six "words" long and will look something like this:
    LSWMWL-ATOLL-UMBELL-SIDED-TOPAZ-VEXES
  • You do NOT need to enter the dashes as you redeem your access code.

  • Each access code can only be redeemed once when you register for MyEnglishLab. The access code is only needed to register. It is not needed to log in. You will set up a login name and password when you register to be used when you want to log in to the MyEnglishLab.
  • Check to make sure your access code has not been redeemed already.
  • If you are sure your access code has not been redeemed and you are still having problems, please contact Technical Product Support.

I forgot my login name or password. How can I get this information sent to me?

  • If you registered correctly, your login name or password should have been e-mailed to you. Check your e-mail for a message from EPSupport@pearsoned.com.

  • If you registered correctly, your login name or password should have been e-mailed to you. Please check your e-mail for a message from Pearson.

The Course ID my instructor gave me is not working. What should I do?

  • Most instructors will ask you to join a course in MyEnglishLab. This allows them to view your work. To join, you will need a “Course ID,” which your instructor will give to you. The Course ID looks something like this: holmes931023W
  • Check with your instructor to make sure you have the correct Course ID and if he or she has made the course available to students.
  • The Course ID is case sensitive so be sure to enter each character exactly as it appears.
  • Be sure to enter the number zero “0” or the letter "O" correctly. These are often confused. In general, a zero “0” will be surrounded by other numbers and the letter “O” will be surrounded by other letters.
  • Try doing a search for your instructor by their last name. Enter your instructor's last name in the search box and click "search." Be sure to spell your instructor's name correctly.
  • If none of the above steps have solved your problem, it is possible you have registered under the wrong product within MyEnglishLab, and therefore do not have access to your instructor's course. Confirm with your instructor which MyNorthStarLab product you should be using.

The whole page does not fit on my screen. Some of the material is cut off. What should I do?

  • Make sure your web browser window is "maximized" and takes up your entire computer screen. There are many ways to do this, but often there will be minimize, maximize, and close icons on the top right of your browser window. Click on the “maximize” icon.
  • Change the Resolution. While MyEnglishLab is designed to work effectively with any screen resolution, 1027 X 768 is considered the most effective. Change your computer's display settings to resolve the problem.

How do I get access to a MyEnglishLab course for my school?

  • Institutions need to contact their local Pearson Longman sales representative to get access to a MyEnglishLab course and support with setting up your online classes. Your students can buy their access cards along with their student books – you will need to tell them to buy the version of the student book with the MyEnglishLab access code.

What is the duration of the student and the teacher access codes?

  • Student codes are valid for 12 months from the date of redemption. Teacher codes are valid for 4 years.

How do teachers renew or extend access to MyEnglishLab courses and will I still have access to my classes?

  • Teachers can renew their access by requesting a new access code from their local Pearson Longman representative at the end of the 4-year validity period.  If you register your new access code using your previous login details you will still have access to all of your classes and materials.

Can students renew their access if their course lasts longer than 12 months?

  • If a course takes longer than 12 months, then we can supply electronic access codes so the student does not have to purchase the coursebook again. If they register their new access code using their previous login details they will still have access to all of their work.

  • There is no limit to the number of classes a teacher can create.

We have continuous enrollment in our institution where students join and leave the course all the time.  Can we still use a MyEnglishLab course?

  • Students can join a MyEnglishLab course at any point.  They can view and complete any activities you have already assigned to other students through their course content folder.

Can more than one teacher teach the same class?

  • Yes each teacher is enrolled into the class using the class ID number.  This can be shared across several teachers so they all have access to teach the same class.

Can students use a MyEnglishLab course without a teacher?

  • All the MyEnglishLab activities are fully integrated with the coursebook and are intended to be used with your class.  A student will not be able to access the MyEnglishLab materials without a teacher setting up a class for them to join.

Could a MyEnglishLab course be used to support a program using a different book?

  • MyEnglishLab is a component of a course rather than a course in itself.  All the content is integrated with each unit of the course and it is intended to be used only with the course.

How much does MyEnglishLab cost?

  • MyEnglishLab access is free for teachers using the online course with their students.  Students will need to buy the MyEnglishLab access code version of their coursebook; prices will vary depending on the course chosen and country of purchase.  Please contact your local Pearson Longman representative for more details.

Can I try MyEnglishLab before I use it with my class?

  • Pearson Longman offers institutions and teachers a 30-day trial of MyEnglishLab courses, which lets you log in and have a look at the activities and tools of the course before you decide to use it.  Please contact your local Pearson Longman representative to obtain an access code for a 30-day trial.
