Frequently Asked Questions
I am using Windows Vista, and I get an error message when I try to install or run the software.
Please try running the dictionary in XP compatibility mode. To do this, right click the LDOCE desktop shortcut and select 'properties' then the 'compatibility' tab and choose 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2)' from the dropdown list. Tick the 'Run as administrator' checkbox at the bottom.
I cannot get the Macros to work in Word
Firstly, Go to: Start, Programs, Longman, Add LDOCE search capabilities to Word?
This should start up MS Word, then click: "enable macros". Go to: Tools, Macro, Macros, Organiser, then: "Macro Project Items" tab. In the left box "In LDOCE" select: "LDOCE" and click: "copy" (LDOCE will then move over to the right box).
Then click the "Toolbars" tab. In the left box "In LDOCE" select: "LDOCE" and click: "Copy" (LDOCE will then move over to the right box) Click: "Close". Shutdown Word, then open it again. You should have a blue Longman icon on your toolbar (where your Save, Print icons are), if you don't, go to: View, Toolbars and click on "LDOCE". You can now type any word, highlight it and click on the Longman icon.
I am using Windows NT/Windows 2000/Windows XP, but an error message appears:
You must be logged on as Administrator to install the CD. You then must run the CD under the Administrator log-on once, then you can use it under your own log-on.
Does the CD have to be in the CD drive for it to work?
Yes the CD has to be in the CD drive.
