This article in W&M News looks at why a university linguist has become convinced that apes really can communicate with each other.

Are your class convinced by the arguments put forward in the article, that apes really can be seen to use ‘language’? Divide your class into two teams and hold a class debate on the subject.

Graffiti.org is a site devoted to this form of art. The site includes photos and images from across the world, latest shows and events, as well as information and resources all about graffiti.

Find out whether your class believe that graffiti is vandalism, or that it is harmless arm that brightens up places and objects that might otherwise look dull and boring.
