This is all about inspirational teachers, so here’s the guy that inspired me…

Oh... low these forty years ago, about.., I walked into a linguistics class and was handed probably the most simple problem there could every be and I was blind as a bat, I couldn’t do it. I looked and looked and looked for hours I saw nothing. And I walked into my professor’s office and I sat down and said “Look, I don’t see this. I know there is something there, but I don’t see this!” He calmed me down and he pointed and said “Look here. Look here. Look here, what do you see?”  and the light went on and ever since then that’s what I have been trying to do and that’s the beautiful thing I get to see – when the light goes on everything is beautiful and ever since then I’ve still been looking for that light and when I get to see it it’s great, just passing it on down the line, and that’s what I do.
