1 Application of Terms and Conditions of Use
Longman is a part of Pearson Education Limited (“Pearson”, “we”, “us”) . By accessing and using [“www.longman.com/great-teachers/”] (the “Site”), you agree to be legally bound by these terms and conditions of use, which shall take effect immediately on your first use of the Site. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all the following terms and conditions of use, please do not access and/or use the Site.
Pearson reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions of use at any time. Such modifications shall be effective immediately upon publishing of the modified terms and conditions. By using this service after Pearson has published notice of such modifications you agree to be bound by the revised terms and conditions of use.
2 Submitting material
This Site is intended to allow users to share stories of great teachers. Therefore, all material that you submit should be your own work and genuine. All material submitted must be in English.
We reserve the right, to monitor material you submit. We also have the right to refuse to allow to be published, any material submitted, that does not comply with these terms and conditions of use, or any applicable law.
By submitting any material you agree to abide by the following rules:
You may not submit any material which:
- advertises or promotes any goods or services;
- reveals any confidential or sensitive information;
- contains or links to any unlawful, threatening, abusive, libelous, offensive, distasteful, indecent, harmful, racist, adult, or otherwise inappropriate material;
- contains any material which you do not have permission to use (including material which may be protected by copyright, trade marks, database right or any other form of intellectual property right);
- contains viruses or any other components with harmful or contaminating effects to any user or any equipment connected to it;
- implies that any statements you make are endorsed by us;
- impersonates any living person; or
- is illegal or contrary to law.
By submitting material to the Site, you (the “Author”) are granting us a perpetual irrevocable non-exclusive transferable royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, modify, edit, translate, make available, distribute, sub-license, create derivative works from, perform, play, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to your contribution worldwide and/or to incorporate your contribution in other works any material you submit in whole or in part or in any form in any media whether now known or invented in the future. This may include personal information and you should read our Privacy Policy, a link to which is available below. By submitting material you acknowledge that you waive any moral rights you have in it. If you do not want to grant to Pearson the rights set out above, please do not submit your contribution to us.
Authors should be reminded that any personal information, such as your name, phone number, date of birth, job, personal interests, credit card information, e-mail address (“Personal Information”) that is voluntarily provided by a author in material submitted to the Site, may be collected and used by others. We would therefore advise you not to reveal any Personal Information about yourself or anyone else. You agree not to misuse any Personal Information available on the Site, and acknowledge that any personal information provided by you through submission of material to the Site may be used by other users, as to which use we have no control and cannot be held liable.
Any material that you submit and that is subsequently published on the Site shall entitle you to receive a Longman Exams Dictionary (“Dictionary”). This shall be limited to one Dictionary per Author and while stocks last.
Pearson reserves the right to remove immediately any published material which is subsequently found to be fraudulent or false.
Statements and opinions expressed on the Site are those of members of the public and are not the statements and opinions of Pearson.
3 Limitation of Liability
Pearson will not be liable for any special, indirect, consequential or incidental damages (including damages for loss of use) arising in contract, tort or otherwise from your use of the Site, or from any action taken (or refrained from being taken) as a result of using the Site.
You agree that you are responsible for all material you submit to the Site and to be responsible for all claims, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal expenses) that we incur if you breach these terms and conditions of use.
4 General
These terms and conditions of use are governed by English law. In the event of any dispute regarding these terms and conditions of use you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
If any provision of these terms and conditions of use is held invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in effect.
Pearson may immediately suspend or terminate your access to the Site without notice if any breach of these terms and conditions of useby you is brought to our attention.
