Sally Burgess holds an MATEFL and PhD from the University of Reading. She is Australian but has been living in the Canary Islands, Spain since 1984. Prior to that she lived in London where she first began to specialise in preparing students for the Cambridge exams. She has worked at the University of La Laguna on the island of Tenerife since 1985 and has taught a wide range of English language and linguistics courses there. She has also written materials for the Cambridge First Certificate and Advanced exams, most notably the for the 'Gold' series. Her writing and teaching have taken her to many parts of the world where she has had the opportunity of working with exams teachers and their students.

Katie Head has been an English language teacher in the UK and Taiwan, and has contacts with many teachers worldwide whom she has met through the Teacher Development special interest group of IATEFL. Her particular interests are the ongoing professional development of experienced teachers and the management of language teaching programmes. She has co-authored three books for teachers, and is currently Programme Leader of the MA in English Language Teaching at Nottingham Trent University.
