Seeing double

Seeing Double: Making Plurals

Goals: to develop vocabulary; to practice using plurals

1. Write the singular form of a noun on the front of a 3" x 5" card. Include some nouns with regular plural forms and some with irregular plural forms.

2. Divide the class into two teams. Place all the cards in a container and have members of the two teams take turns choosing a card.

3. The first student says the plural of the noun. (Check pronunciation at this point.) Then he or she spells the word out loud.

4. Each team gets one point for each correct pronunciation by a team member and another point for each correct spelling. The team with the most points at the end wins.
