Updated FCE and CAE exams from December 2008

Over the past two years, Cambridge ESOL has carried out a thorough review of the FCE and CAE exams and, as a result, will be introducing updated versions of the exams in December 2008.

Summary of changes

  • The tests will focus on a wider range of skills and functions
  • The overall length of the FCE and CAE exams will be reduced by approximately one hour making it more appealing for test-takers
  • Some parts of the exams will include new and/or improved task types
  • Some parts will be more standardised in content, making them user-friendly for students preparing for the exams, and making the progression from FCE to CPE more straight forward

Click here to watch Jacky Newbrook, co-author of the Gold series and Practice Tests Plus, talk about the updates to the exams.
